Electric Guitar Licks - Explode Your Guitar Speed!
In this lesson we're going to be taking a look at three cool sounding electric guitar licks. All of the
licks are based around the E Minor Blues scale
which contains the notes: E G A Bb B and D. (Although
I do add an extra note (C#) in lick two. Why? Because it sounds cool!).
All of the licks make good exercises for developing your hammer-ons and pull-offs. They also sound great when
they are played up to speed!
Before you check out the TAB of the licks, I recommend that you watch this video first...
Now that you've watched the video, here are the licks written out in TAB and standard notation.
Notice that I've put the picking directions above the TAB, and the left-hand fingering underneath the TAB...
Electric Guitar Lick One: NOVICE Level

Electric Guitar Lick Two: MEDIUM Level

Electric Guitar Lick Three: GURU Level

As you play the licks, pay careful attention to muting. The idea is to make sure that no other
notes ring other than the ones that you are playing. This is especially challenging to do when playing lick three
because it uses so much string-skipping. I definitely need to practice lick three a LOT more, as my performance on
the video was a bit sloppy! :-)
Oh yeah, before I forget. Don't panic if you're not sure about how to mute effectively. I'll
be covering that in detail in a future lesson.
Have fun with these, and I'll look forward to seeing you soon!
All the best,
Craig Bassett.
