What I Liked About Ideas, Phrases
& Exercises For The Modern Guitarist
Here are some of the things that I liked about this e-book...
- Very Comprehensive: There is a vast number of musical ideas to learn that cover
a wide-variety of techniques. I feel that guitarists who seriously practice the stuff in this e-book will
develop extremely well-developed technique.
- Very Musical: This e-book contains none of the usual boring chromatic exercises that
many books have (Yay!!!). All of the ideas are based on musical materials that can be used for soloing and
improvisation. This means that you can improve your technique at the same time as learning some new and
exciting things that sound cool. :-)
- Caters To All Learning Styles: The lessons include text, tablature, standard
notation, fretboard diagrams, and audio. This makes the material very easy to learn from. Picking and
fingering suggestions are also included which is excellent. (Many books and courses I've bought don't include
these).
- Bonus Ideas Included: Toni has included over 350 videos that demonstrate how to adapt the
ideas in new ways. This is a great idea because often guitarists learn musical ideas but have challenges with
adapting the ideas to new situations.
- Well-Organized: This e-book isn't just a random collection of ideas thrown together. I
feel that Toni has put a lot of thought into the structure of the e-book content. The entire e-book is
also easy to navigate, which makes the learning process easier.
What I Didn't Like About Ideas,
Phrases & Exercises For The Modern Guitarist
There were some things that I felt could have been done a bit better…
- Small Translation Issues: This e-book was translated into English from Spanish. And
although the translation is really good, there were a few places where musical terms hadn't been translated.
But because TAB and standard notation is included, this won't be a problem for most guitarists. (I certainly
didn't have any trouble understanding the content).
- No Explanations On Videos: The videos show Toni demonstrating the ideas only. He
doesn't explain what he is doing. The good news is that the ideas he plays on the videos are played relatively
slowly. This means that most guitar players will have no trouble working the ideas out.
- A Little Overwhelming: I must admit I felt a bit overwhelmed by how much stuff this e-book
includes. There's so much stuff I found it a little hard knowing where to start! (I suppose I should stop my
complaining and just get to work). :-)

Bottom-Line
I'm giving this product 4 out of 5 stars. The complaints I had with this e-book mean that I
can't bring myself to give it a 5-star rating.
But if you are a shred, metal or neoclassical guitarist wanting to learn some new ideas...don't let
me put you off. At the $47 price tag, it represents great value for money...
